La carte des vins autrichiens est constituée de ses trois principales régions viticoles : Niedaöstareich (Basse-Autriche), Burgenland et Steiermark. Le Niedaöstareich, au nord-est, possède la plus grande superficie de vignes et est surtout connu pour ses blancs élégants et ses rouges de climat frais. Variétés de raisins autrichiennes
Le raisin le plus important et le meilleur vin autrichien est le Gruner Veltliner qui représente environ un tiers des vignobles du pays. Il a tendance à produire des vins blancs épicés et poivrés avec des notes de fruits à noyau. Le deuxième cépage blanc autrichien le plus important est le Riesling, qui est utilisé pour produire les vins doux à vendanges tardives Auslese et Beerenauslese ainsi que des vins blancs secs.
