A Birthday to Remember with DAOU & Colomé Celebrating my mother’s birthday was made even more special thanks to two incredible wines—DAOU Cabernet Sauvignon 2021 and Colomé Auténtico Malbec 2020. The star of the evening was undoubtedly the DAOU Cabernet Sauvignon. From the first sip, it enveloped us in its rich, velvety embrace. The deep dark fruit flavors, hints of cocoa, and perfectly balanced oak made every glass feel like a true indulgence. It was bold yet elegant, a wine that effortlessly brought warmth and joy to our gathering. Seeing my mother savor each sip with a smile made it all the more memorable. The Colomé Auténtico Malbec also delivered beautifully, with its pure expression of high-altitude Malbec. It was powerful, with ripe blackberries, spice, and a smooth, lingering finish—an excellent complement to the evening. These wines didn’t just enhance our meal; they became part of the celebration, elevating every toast and conversation. A heartfelt thank you to DAOU and Colomé for making this special occasion truly unforgettable!

    Un anniversaire inoubliable avec DAOU & Colomé La célébration de l'anniversaire de ma mère a été rendue encore plus spéciale grâce à deux vins incroyables : le Cabernet Sauvignon 2021 de DAOU et le Malbec Auténtico 2020 de Colomé. La star de la soirée était sans aucun doute le DAOU Cabernet Sauvignon. Dès la première gorgée, il nous a enveloppés de son étreinte riche et veloutée. Les profondes saveurs de fruits noirs, les notes de cacao et le chêne parfaitement équilibré ont fait de chaque verre un véritable plaisir. C'était un vin à la fois audacieux et élégant, qui a apporté sans effort chaleur et joie à notre réunion. Voir ma mère savourer chaque gorgée avec le sourire n'en a été que plus mémorable. Le Colomé Auténtico Malbec s'est lui aussi révélé magnifique, avec sa pure expression de Malbec de haute altitude. Il était puissant, avec des mûres mûres, des épices et une finale douce et persistante - un excellent complément à la soirée. Ces vins n'ont pas seulement rehaussé notre repas ; ils ont fait partie de la fête, rehaussant chaque toast et chaque conversation. Nous remercions chaleureusement DAOU et Colomé d'avoir fait de cette occasion spéciale un moment inoubliable !

    Brothers Georges and Daniel Daou founded their winery over a decade ago after searching for top quality land in Napa and discovering that actually Paso Robles had everything they needed. The ambitious duo strive to craft Bordeaux-style wines with a New World vibrancy and expressiveness. This corner of Paso Robles is a perfect fit for that mission thanks to the Napa-like climate and soils which are rich in limestone like many of France’s top vineyards.

    The DAOU Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve is made with top quality grapes sourced from the brothers’ vineyards which sit at 2200 feet of altitude. This elevation helps to preserve balancing freshness in the finished wines as well as ensuring the development of intense, concentrated flavours and aromas. Following the fermentation process the wine is aged in 80% new French oak barrels for 18 months to allow the wine to mature and add extra complexity.

    This stunning wine opens with cassis, blackberry and dark cherry aromas along with hints of sweet spice and dark chocolate. The first sip reveals complex layers of flavour which slowly unfold in the mouth, moving from crushed ripe berries and currant jam to deep herbal and earthy tones. On the palate there is a smooth mouthfeel, well-defined structure and firm tannins which will soften with a few years of cellaring.

    Le DAOU Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve est élaboré à partir de raisins de première qualité provenant des vignobles situés à une altitude de 2 200 pieds. Cette altitude permet de préserver la fraîcheur des vins finis et d'assurer le développement de saveurs et d'arômes intenses et concentrés. Ce vin étonnant s'ouvre sur des arômes de cassis, de mûre et de cerise noire, avec des notes d'épices douces et de chocolat noir. La première gorgée révèle des couches complexes de saveurs qui se déploient lentement en bouche, passant des baies mûres écrasées et de la confiture de groseille à des tons profonds d'herbes et de terre. La bouche est douce, la structure bien définie et les tanins fermes, qui s'assoupliront avec quelques années de garde.
