Villa Giada Suri Barbera D'Asti 2017

This vibrant and easy-going Barbera d’Asti is made with sustainably grown grapes which are harvested from Villa Giada’s estate vines at the end of September when they have reached optimal ripeness. The must is vinified in stainless steel tanks to showcase the pure red fruited character of the Barbera and to maximise the freshness and vivacity of the finished wine.

In the glass there is a bold deep ruby hue and enticing aromas of ripe red cherries, raspberries, and hints of spice. The first sip reveals a medium body, rich red fruit flavours and bright streak of freshness. The soft, smooth tannins and clean finish make this an excellent wine to drink alongside cheeses and charcuterie. It can even be served slightly chilled in the summer with salads and tomato-based pasta dishes.

The historic core of the Villa Giada estate was built in 1790 although it was only during the 1970s that the property was acquired by the Faccios. Today the estate is in the hands of the third generation of the family who farm the 25 hectares of vines in the heart of the Monferrato UNESCO World Heritage Site. Amongst the estate’s holdings are 14 hectares in the village of Agliano Terme which has been recognised as one of the finest terroirs in Piedmont for the Barbera grape.
