Villa Giada is a third generation family-run estate which was acquired by the Faccios in the 1970s. Wine has been made on the property for more than two centuries with the historic farmhouses which constitute the heart of the estate dating back to 1790. Today the estate is blessed with 25 hectares of prime vineyards in the centre of the Monferrato UNESCO World Heritage Site which has been recognised as one of Italy’s finest winemaking regions.

Although Villa Giada is probably better known for top quality Barbera wines, the estate also produces this superb Nebbiolo sourced from vineyards on the Ponticelli hill in the village of Agliano Terme. The grapes are grown sustainably and are harvested by hand in October. In the winery the must is vinified in stainless steel tanks and then transferred to small oak barrels for at least a year.

Like most Nebbiolo wines, this is a big, bold red wine with a firm structure, generous tannins, and intense dark fruit flavours and aromas. The rich and well-developed character of this wine will help it to age gracefully in the cellar over the next decade, or it can be enjoyed now alongside a strongly flavoured red meat dish such as beef bourguignon or a prime steak.
