A Birthday to Remember with DAOU & Colomé Celebrating my mother’s birthday was made even more special thanks to two incredible wines—DAOU Cabernet Sauvignon 2021 and Colomé Auténtico Malbec 2020. The star of the evening was undoubtedly the DAOU Cabernet Sauvignon. From the first sip, it enveloped us in its rich, velvety embrace. The deep dark fruit flavors, hints of cocoa, and perfectly balanced oak made every glass feel like a true indulgence. It was bold yet elegant, a wine that effortlessly brought warmth and joy to our gathering. Seeing my mother savor each sip with a smile made it all the more memorable. The Colomé Auténtico Malbec also delivered beautifully, with its pure expression of high-altitude Malbec. It was powerful, with ripe blackberries, spice, and a smooth, lingering finish—an excellent complement to the evening. These wines didn’t just enhance our meal; they became part of the celebration, elevating every toast and conversation. A heartfelt thank you to DAOU and Colomé for making this special occasion truly unforgettable!

    Le Domaine Raymond Usseglio a été fondé en 1964 par Raymond et Danielle Usseglio, un couple influent de la vallée du Rhône. Depuis, le domaine est devenu un véritable établissement du Rhône méridional, produisant une gamme de cuvées de Châteauneuf-du-Pape étonnantes, tant en rouge qu'en blanc.

    Stéphane, le fils de Raymond et Danielle, a pris la relève en 1999. Il aime utiliser des cuves de fermentation en béton pour ses vins, mais emploie également d'autres méthodes inhabituelles. "La Genèse est un vin 100% grenache, fermenté et élevé dans une énorme cuve d'argile surnommée "la tortue ivre".

    "La Genese présente un bouquet attrayant de mûre et de cerise noire, associé à des notes de tabac et d'herbes. C'est un vin décadent et buvable, avec une bouche généreuse et ronde, une acidité rafraîchissante et des tanins succulents. En bouche, on retrouve d'autres notes de fruits rouges et noirs, avec des nuances de vanille et de chocolat. Les grenaches proviennent à parts égales des sols caillouteux de Châteauneuf-du-Pape et des sols sablonneux de Lirac. La finale est persistante, avec des notions de vinaigre balsamique et d'épices. "La Genese" accompagnera brillamment des plats de viande rouge richement parfumés, tels que des côtes de bœuf au barbecue ou une soupe de queue de bœuf.
