Ranked among the Top 50 World´s Best Vineyards for their wine tourism programme, Viu Manent was founded in 1935 by Catalan immigrant Miguel Viu-García and his two sons Agustín and Miguel Viu-Manent in Santiago de Chile. The family initially sold wine locally under the Vinos Viu label before acquiring their own estate, Hacienda San Carlos de Cunaco, in Chile’s famous Colchagua Valley. Today the property is run by the third generation of the family, Jose Miguel Viu.

The grapes for this Centenario bottling are sourced from the estate’s Fundo San Carlos de Cunaco which is planted with pre-phylloxera vines over 100 years old. These ancient vines produce incredibly concentrated fruit thanks to the very low yields. This bottling is a Bordeaux-style blend with a distinctive Chilean touch, predominantly composed of Cabernet Sauvignon along with a smaller proportion of Merlot.

The nose opens with enticing blackcurrant, dark cherry and plum notes while on the palate there is a rich full body, soft tannins and pronounced dark fruit flavours which linger long on the tongue. The bright personality and fruit forward character make this a great match for red meats including barbecued ribs, steak or roasted beef.
