Dal Cero Vermentino Chardonnay 2017

This elegant white blend showcases the philosophy at the heart of the Dal Cero estate which seeks to combine Tuscan winemaking traditions with outward-looking innovation and use of international varieties. The estate was purchased by brothers Giuseppe and Dario in 1980 after they recognised the potential of the Cortona region in southern Tuscany for making exquisite wines.

The deep yellow gold hue and uplifting aromas of Mediterranean herbs, clementines, and white blossom intrigue the senses, while the first sip reveals a bright acidity and rounded texture. The palate is full of ripe peaches and hints of pencil lead and minerality which linger long on the tongue. Fresh and vibrant, this is an ideal white to drink alongside seafood, salads and antipasti before moving on to heavier dishes.

The grapes used for this wine are grown in the family’s vineyards in Montecchio which have an altitude of 270 metres, helping to preserve freshness in the grapes despite the warm summers. Each year the grapes are harvested by hand and fermented in large oak barrels to add a creamy texture and softness to the wine. The wine then spends 3 months ageing on the lees with a weekly battonage or lees stirring to add extra character.
